Week 1: Two Cultures
The lecture videos and the articles I read argue that the world is viewed from two different cultures , art and science. These two cultures are considered to be streets apart from each other. People of artistic culture are considered to be more creative minded while people of scientific culture are considered more analytical. When talking about colleges , people in science majors are usually considered smarter. Science majors are seen as the hardest majors on campus, while art majors are seen as the easiest ones. When looking at the statistics , literature and liberal art majors have the highest acceptance rates.
I've always been very science minded. I always excelled in science/math based subjects with relative ease. On the other hand, literacy and art subjects have always been my least favorite part of school. Ever since I was little I always joined any magnet or stem programs that were offered. In high school I even joined the stem school that was available.

I feel like I had a similar experience to you, as prior to college I was very STEM oriented and did not really like subjects like literature and history. Once I took my first history class at UCLA, I had a great experience and enjoyed the class, and it definitely opened my mind to the importance of all fields in today's day and age. I have also been learning music production, which I guess is on the creative side of the humanities/arts realm, and has a deep crossover with technology. You mentioned the use of software and tech in the digital imaging class, and similarly music production uses the latest tech and software. Perhaps it is this integration of tech and art that helps encourage people to crossover between the two cultures?
